The Wraeththu books are post apocalyptic. A new hermaphroditic species called Wraeththu are taking over, in a time where both humanity and the earth are infertile and dying. Governments around the world have collapsed. The wraeththu or hara take great pains to hide who and what they are from humanity, choosing instead to grow their numbers by force, or those who are strong enough to hear the call of destiny.
Seel remembers his days as a human more than most hara. He was a good kid, a little geeky and not the most confident. When he was twelve, Seel and another young boy named Calanthe became lovers. Seel was a good student, until Cal's bad influence caught up to him and he stopped going to school, preferring instead to have sex his new boyfriend, smoke, drink and do all sorts of other things that twelve year olds probably shouldn't be doing. One day when he was thirteen, Seel's mother caught them in bed together and called the police. Unable to face her, and with homosexuality outlawed, Cal convinced Seel to run away with him and join up with the wraeththu, having a feeling they were more than the street gangs the news professed.
This was not a great plan. In the early days, most wraeththu tribes were wilder and violent, rebelling against the conservative, dying world they sprang from. The largest and by far most feared were the Uigenna, who the two boys stumbled upon in their search. There they were taken and incepted, transformed from human into wraeththu, by a transfusion of blood and then raped. The inception took place in a filthy cellar, Seel's arms cut with glass while he was held down, crying. He writhed in agony for three days during the transformation from human to Wraeththu, but luckily survived the process. Unlike his boyfriend Cal, Seel was disturbed by the violent and chaotic practices of the Uigenna and defected to another slightly less violent tribe, the Unneah, where he also didn't stay for long. However, Cal refused, having found his people. Calanthe by then was also infatuated with another named Zackala and dumped him.
Eventually Seel met up with another har named Orien, who helped him form Saltrock, a small colony town in Mexico where other would be hara could find shelter and safely incept and train those willing and worthy of joining. Seel and Orien built the town from the ground up, starting with nothing and ending with a shabby but functional town with hot water and electricity. Orien was left in charge of the more magical or religious aspects and Seel was in charge of the rest, leading the safe haven he had created. Little did he know that Orien was in contact with the first of their kind, Thiede, who was using Saltrock as a feeder training camp for his great city of Immanion, and powerful Gelaming tribe he was shaping in his image.
Years later, after Orien was horrifically murdered at the hands of the now insane and unstable Cal, Seel was lured away from Saltrock by Thiede himself. Thiede wanted Seel to help build his cities, promised him power, a lavish lifestyle and then, after, to help and advise the new Wraeththu king, Pellaz, who Seel knew and had helped incept. There Seel worked with various politicians, craftsman, engineers and architects. Seel enjoyed himself immensely, having been given the power and opportunity to create something of real value and stability. However, Thiede's true plan for Seel was soon revealed. The Varr tribal leaders, Ponclast and his second Terzian, had proven to be extremely dangerous and corrupt and resistant to conventional Gelaming attacks. Swift, Terzian's son, was young, impressionable, and would help them.
One day, (Seel is now in his late twenties/early thirties) Thiede ordered Seel to venture to Varr territory, located in the Midwestern US, and perform a series of sex magic rituals with Swift in order to help win the war against the Varrs. He was also ordered to conceive a child, allowing a Gelaming presence permanently in Varrish territory. Ponclast and his underlings were imprisoned and Terzian was allowed to die after refusing to break under Gelaming torture.
When Seel finds out Thiede has arranged for his marriage and subsequent pregnancy to some unknown Wraeththu who has barely finished puberty, he doesn't take it well. Seel finds the idea of arranged marriages and consorts to leaders horrific, antiquated and something that should have died away with the demise of humanity. Still, he accepts that Thiede has all the cards and does as he is bid. After the war is won a very pregnant Seel is brought into Swift's home, and Swift changes the tribes name from Varr to Parsic, in an effort to start to change their ways.
Despite all this, Seel is actually happy. Of course, a lot of that happiness may be because Thiede bewitched Seel and Swift into actually loving each other, and becoming profoundly attracted to each other for months before they actually met, manipulating their emotions and hormones to his own advantage. Seel acts as adviser and Consort to Swift, and keeps the Hegemony in Immanion apprised of the Parsic tribal matters.

Wraeththu Body:
Hermaphroditic. Faster metabolism resistant to many poisons and diseases. Will require much higher doses of medications for them to be effective. Blood and semen are a caustic poison to humans and will dissolve flesh, organs and bone. Blood is also caustic and transformative if the subject survives. Medical gloves and equipment like syringes are safe to use. Reaction is based off PH and set off by human skin only. More complete medical information available.
Energy based abilities:
Seel's magical abilities are a manipulation and manifestation of his own will and energy, which can be expressed different ways such as: Energy based healing, telekinesis, pyrokinesis, telepathy, energy shielding against psychic and physical forces, locating people/energy signatures, grissecon - ritual sex magic used to garner and create massive amounts of power from it. Potentially game breaking. This will need to be limited.
Mundane skills:
Born leader. Expert at drawing up with building plans, architectural drawings and constructing towns and structures out of nothing. Marksman and melee fighter. Can drive a car and ride a horse.

Seel's hair is his most defining physical trait, and serves as an indication of not only his own mental state, but his sense of self and sense of freedom to choose his own path. He starts off with multicolored braids, woven in with beads and tassels and other bits of fabric. He stands out, he's a rebel, his entire appearance says 'notice me. Fuck you. I am my own person and I don't give a rats ass what you think.' But throughout Seels' journey, this changes. He sells his soul, almost literally and figuratively, for power, sacrificing the dreams he originally had. When this happens, his entire outward personae changes. His hair loses the fantastic qualities, it becomes all one color, straight, no adornments. His dress becomes much more conservative, he stops chain smoking, while at the same time losing some of his freedom, his ability to make choices, and in some ways his dreams. Seel's hair is his identity, and it becomes stifled as his character progresses and he loses bits of himself, selling out for a dream he started out not wanting.
3. If there's one person your character would follow to another realm, who would it be and why? If there's no one, state that and explain why.
Seel would love to say that it was Swift, the love of his life, but in all honesty, it's Cal. Cal and Seel are connected in the worst way. Seel loves him so much, and at the same time, he wants to beat him until his blood runs. While Seel wants to enjoy his life for himself, he also wants to make sure Cal doesn't. In any sense of the word. He wants him punished for all the wrongs he's committed, he wants him to suffer physically, emotionally, in every way. And simply? He can't make sure that happens if he's out of his sight. They've lived their entire lives revolving around eachother, in one way or another, often intersecting in the most unhealthy and toxic ways possible, and while Cal eventually gets better and turns his gaze inward, Seel never does. He relies on his partner Swift to help calm him down instead. When he's too close to Cal, he gets spiteful, while at the same time wanting to never leave his side. Cal is an addiction to a lot of individuals, Seel is one of them.
4. What is your character's most outstanding personality trait, and why?
Seel is abusive and can be downright mean, emotionally and physically. As a result of his inception, as well as his Uigenna blood, Seel has a lot of trouble controlling his temper and sometimes (a lot of times) it slips out and he does awful things. As many of the Wraeththu have a tendency to act like teenage girls, Seel can be positively bitchy. For someone who professes to be completely self-aware, he's really not. He's deluding himself.
Seel will also holds a grudge. Forever. It doesn't matter how much the person may have changed and what they've done to try and make things right, he wont budge. He's not a very forgiving or understanding person. If you screw up, he will tell you how much you've screwed up, how much of a disappointment you are, and make you feel like you want to die in a hole. When called on this, he jokes about being a dictator in a previous life. While he has endeavored in Saltrock to create an enlightened and equal society and has for the most part succeeded, it is brought down by his rampant domineering and totalitarian attitude. For example, it's not enough that he has Cal led away in chains, arrested for the murder of Orien. He also has him drugged, and verbally abuses him to such lengths that he leaves Cal almost completely broken. He destroys his will to live. Even after Cal has recovered and devoted his life to helping others, Seel refuses to forgive him. Dinner parties are certainly out of the question, much less polite conversation. He's even still hung up on the fact that Cal dumped him when he was twelve, even fifty years later.
While he can be a skilled diplomat, politician and leader, these skills can often be at odds with his often bitchy personality. While he is perfectly capable and trained to hold his tongue and be polite, he'd really rather not. He'd much rather let his bitchy, feminine side out and lash out. Still, he can also be quite a caring and devoted person. When Cal was ill, insane and suffering and turns to Seel for help, and Seel spends days caring for him. If he cares about you, he'll give you the world. Betray that trust or hurt those he cares about and he'll leave you an emotionally unstable, quivering mess.
